Porechop_ABI is an innovative software tool designed to scan Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) reads for the presence of adapters — without requiring any prior knowledge of the adapter sequences. Using an advanced algorithm based on approximate k-mers, it accurately identifies and removes adapter sequences based solely on their frequency. Porechop_ABI has been tested on a wide range of ONT datasets, including those generated from different flow cells, sequencing kits, and basecallers, demonstrating its versatility and effectiveness.
Porechop_ABI is open source and is available as an extension of the original Porechop tool of Ryan Wick.
